Breathing correctly will give you the right amount of oxygen to ensure that your blood is fully oxygenated.
It means our brains and our bodies are being replenished with essential nutrients.
We don’t just need oxygen, we need CO2. If you breathe too fast you breathe off the CO2. This creates an imbalance in your cells and your system can become too acidic. Our goal is always to have an alkaline system. Diseases, especially cancer, do not like an alkaline environment.
When we are stressed we breathe shallow breaths because our bodies are in a constant state of preparing to flee. This is our fight of flight mechanism. The problem with this state is that we don’t use our lungs to their full capacity and as a consequence we don’t get enough oxygen.
Some of the symptoms that your body is not enough getting enough oxygen or you have an imbalance due to not breathing correctly can include:
- Lethargy and being constantly tired
- Poor immunity
- Panic attacks
Face Pilates gives you an opportunity in your day to make some time to breathe properly. Before you start each exercise take a deep breath into your ribs, expand your diaphragm and breathe slowly as you go through the exercises.
