But what you probably didn’t realise is that it not only is it an anti ageing tool it is a physical therapy tool and one that can help keep your body and brain healthy in more ways than you would believe!
Reason NO. 1. Stimulating your senses
When you are working the muscles either with your fingers or by making expressions you are bringing additional oxygen and nutrients from your blood stream to the facial tissues. This has several benefits.
i. It will make you look younger!
ii. It has a positive effect on your senses.
Stimulating the neural pathways within the cranial nerve of the human brain with facial exercises can affect how well our eyes, ears, nose and tongue work.
As we age our senses lose their sharpness and this can change our life style.
It takes a certain amount of stimulation to become aware of a sensation. As we get older the threshold for minimum level of stimulation rises and we need more stimulation to have this awareness.
In China eye exercises have been compulsory twice daily in schools to combat myopia for over 50 years!
Face Pilates exercises force you to concentrate specifically on using the muscles that assist us to use our senses.
