Massaging your scalp is an important part of the Face Pilates routine.
It releases the skin and relaxes the frown lines!
An added advantage is it stimulates hair growth!
Masajear tu cuero cabelludo es una parte importante de la rutina de Face Pilates.
Esta acción libera la piel y hace que se relajen las líneas del ceño.
¡Y una extra ventaja es que también estimula el crecimiento del cabello!

Coco Channel said, “…at fifty you get the face you deserve.”
The most common age for people to start to practice facial exercises is between the ages of 30 and 50.
What I can tell you is the sooner you start the better the results and the benefits that you will find.
Even if you are a little skeptical about whether Face Pilates can help you to look younger or turn back the clock, give it a try. You have nothing to loose!
Here are 5 reasons you will benefit as you age from practicing Face Pilates:
When we do Pilates exercises we lengthen the muscles, relax and stretch the body. As we get older our muscles shorten. This is why our posture can change as we get older. Stretching can change this.
The muscles on our face are the same.
If we are tense our facial muscles are shortened because of our ‘facial posture’ and then once we relax they release and this stresses our ligaments and skin tissue.
This is what causes the sagging as we age.
Relaxing the muscles and lengthening them with Face Pilates will allow the ligaments to heal themselves.
Human beings are habitual! Our posture changes because of the way we stand or sit all day. Unless we are taught to be aware of how we can change these habits our bodies become ‘stuck’ in poor positions.
We do the same with our faces. Frowning as we think, squinting our eyes or other repeated expressions form lines and wrinkles on our faces.
Over time our muscles start to anticipate these movements and we do them more often, exactly the same as poor posture.
Practicing facial exercises, just like practicing Pilates, enables you to correct these habits and give you muscle awareness so that you learn to feel when you are making expressions that will create tension, wrinkles and lines.
Doing a Face Pilates class will bring blood flow to the facial and skin tissues. This will increase the supply of nutrients and collagen, the building blocks that allow the body to repair and grow ligaments and tendons.
Like the muscles on our body the muscles of the face will regenerate with stretching and exercise because the body naturally activates it’s defenses against free radicals when the muscle or tissue is stressed or damaged.
We all know that when we are stressed we look older. This is because of the high levels of stress hormones like cortisol that are being released into our blood stream.
Prolonged stress and elevated levels of these hormones will accelerate ageing.
Taking 10 minutes a day to relax your face and you mind while you do your Face Pilates routine will allow your stress levels to decrease.

The answer to that question is well, almost everyone!
I think we all should do Face Pilates, however, there are instances where people need to consider the health implications before they choose to try alternative health practices.
The best policy is to always be safe.
When you practice Face Pilates you are working on the pressure points and meridians of your body. This can have an affect on your organs, blood and skin. They are all connected and as you work you are stimulating the same energy pathways that you stimulate when you are doing acupuncture or reflexology. This can sometimes have contraindications for the body.
A contraindication means: Something (such as a symptom or condition) that is a medical reason for not doing or using something (such as a treatment, procedure, or activity).
SO who shouldn’t do Face Pilates?
Here is a list of reasons why people should consult your doctor before you include our routines in your lifestyle:
· You are talking anticoagulants
· Recent injuries to the neck or head
· Recent operations to the head or face
· Cuts, abrasions or bruises to the head or face
· Cancer
· Epilepsy
· Diabetes
· High or low blood pressure
· Migraine
· Recent hemorrhage to the brain
· Asthma
· Skin disorders
· Scalp infections
· Brain infections or meningitis
I have designed the Face Pilates routine with the best intent to improve your health and give you a natural alternative to anti-ageing and longevity, they are not designed to diagnose, treat or cure and illness, disorder or health problems.

We’re still working on that neck sag!
When we do our full 1 hour Face Pilates routine we always start at the neck and always with the Ear to Shoulder Stretch.
This stretch is a simple but effective way to stretch your neck muscles and warm them up for the complete routine.
It’s important to know that if you have any neck injuries such as compressed discs or herniations or previous neck issues due to illness or accidents you need to be aware of your range of motion with this exercise.
I myself have 4 compressed discs and two protruding in my neck and I am able to do the movement. I’m just careful and only take the stretch as far as I feel comfortable. It doesn’t have to be a big movement and it should not hurt. It is hard work though!
Please if you have any doubts speak to your doctor before you do the routine.
How to do the Ear to Shoulder Stretch:
