Massaging your scalp is an important part of the Face Pilates routine.
It releases the skin and relaxes the frown lines!
An added advantage is it stimulates hair growth!
Masajear tu cuero cabelludo es una parte importante de la rutina de Face Pilates.
Esta acción libera la piel y hace que se relajen las líneas del ceño.
¡Y una extra ventaja es que también estimula el crecimiento del cabello!

Coco Channel said, “…at fifty you get the face you deserve.”
The most common age for people to start to practice facial exercises is between the ages of 30 and 50.
What I can tell you is the sooner you start the better the results and the benefits that you will find.
Even if you are a little skeptical about whether Face Pilates can help you to look younger or turn back the clock, give it a try. You have nothing to loose!
Here are 5 reasons you will benefit as you age from practicing Face Pilates:
When we do Pilates exercises we lengthen the muscles, relax and stretch the body. As we get older our muscles shorten. This is why our posture can change as we get older. Stretching can change this.
The muscles on our face are the same.
If we are tense our facial muscles are shortened because of our ‘facial posture’ and then once we relax they release and this stresses our ligaments and skin tissue.
This is what causes the sagging as we age.
Relaxing the muscles and lengthening them with Face Pilates will allow the ligaments to heal themselves.
Human beings are habitual! Our posture changes because of the way we stand or sit all day. Unless we are taught to be aware of how we can change these habits our bodies become ‘stuck’ in poor positions.
We do the same with our faces. Frowning as we think, squinting our eyes or other repeated expressions form lines and wrinkles on our faces.
Over time our muscles start to anticipate these movements and we do them more often, exactly the same as poor posture.
Practicing facial exercises, just like practicing Pilates, enables you to correct these habits and give you muscle awareness so that you learn to feel when you are making expressions that will create tension, wrinkles and lines.
Doing a Face Pilates class will bring blood flow to the facial and skin tissues. This will increase the supply of nutrients and collagen, the building blocks that allow the body to repair and grow ligaments and tendons.
Like the muscles on our body the muscles of the face will regenerate with stretching and exercise because the body naturally activates it’s defenses against free radicals when the muscle or tissue is stressed or damaged.
We all know that when we are stressed we look older. This is because of the high levels of stress hormones like cortisol that are being released into our blood stream.
Prolonged stress and elevated levels of these hormones will accelerate ageing.
Taking 10 minutes a day to relax your face and you mind while you do your Face Pilates routine will allow your stress levels to decrease.

Facial exercises have always been popular in Hollywood!
Influential scriptwriter and author Elinor Glyn, admired for her impeccable skin, wrote “The Wrinkle Book” in 1927 sharing her unique facial exercises with the hungry A-list in tinsel town.
When Vogue magazine featured European born Senta Maria Rungé in 1959 her facial exercise routines became the new beauty secret for all the Hollywood celebrities. Her popular Hollywood beauty salon was said to have more than 12,000 testimonials from stars and her followers. Her book Face Lifting by Exercise is still available.
The Fountain of Youth
In today’s society looking youthful is still the Holy Grail.
Celebrities are revered like Gods for their looks, especially those who never seem to age! We all want to know their beauty tips! You could say that we are obsessed with celebrity culture.
Botox, fillers, laser treatments, chemical peels and having a full time makeup artist on staff obviously helps many of the celebrities we follow look their best but over the past couple of decades the trend of the “healthy lifestyle celebrity” has emerged.
Some of our A-list celebrity beauty tips include natural solutions to looking amazing and having great like including facial exercises in their daily skincare routine.
Celebrity Face Pilates Devotees
So who are the celebrities who we know practice facial exercise?
Madonna
Despite the recent nasty ageist press about Madonna’s hands, at 58, the star is still looking as young as many years her junior. Fit and health conscious Madonna has been practicing facial exercises for nearly a decade. Her facial exercise mentor and guru Eve Fraser was believed to have regularly visit the celebrity at home to teach her how to care for her face with daily exercise, just as she does her body.
Cindy Crawford
Supermodel Cindy Crawford has been doing face exercises since she was 30!
This is what the mother and entrepreneur, Cindy, had to say on her blog last year about how she maintains her very youthful and elegant neck by doing regular facial exercises.
“Over 20 years ago, I saw a woman doing exercises for her neck. She explained that if you keep those muscles toned, it helps preserve the line of your jaw. You can do these exercises anywhere, but I usually do them as part of my workout. They’re simple to do—just lay flat on your back with your chin pointed up, and lift your whole head about an inch off the ground. Without putting your head back down on the floor, bring your chin to your chest. I do three sets of 10 repetitions, but you can build up to that! I alternate the chin-to-chest one with a side-to-side movement. Start the same way—flat on your back with your head lifted one inch off the ground. Without putting your head back down on floor, turn your head to the right, back to the center, and then to the left. I also do three sets of 10 of these.”
Other celebrities who are rumored to practice facial exercises to maintain their youthful looks are Gwenyth Paltrow, Reece Witherspoon, Jennifer Aniston, Christy Turlington and Oprah Winfrey!

The answer to that question is well, almost everyone!
I think we all should do Face Pilates, however, there are instances where people need to consider the health implications before they choose to try alternative health practices.
The best policy is to always be safe.
When you practice Face Pilates you are working on the pressure points and meridians of your body. This can have an affect on your organs, blood and skin. They are all connected and as you work you are stimulating the same energy pathways that you stimulate when you are doing acupuncture or reflexology. This can sometimes have contraindications for the body.
A contraindication means: Something (such as a symptom or condition) that is a medical reason for not doing or using something (such as a treatment, procedure, or activity).
SO who shouldn’t do Face Pilates?
Here is a list of reasons why people should consult your doctor before you include our routines in your lifestyle:
· You are talking anticoagulants
· Recent injuries to the neck or head
· Recent operations to the head or face
· Cuts, abrasions or bruises to the head or face
· Cancer
· Epilepsy
· Diabetes
· High or low blood pressure
· Migraine
· Recent hemorrhage to the brain
· Asthma
· Skin disorders
· Scalp infections
· Brain infections or meningitis
I have designed the Face Pilates routine with the best intent to improve your health and give you a natural alternative to anti-ageing and longevity, they are not designed to diagnose, treat or cure and illness, disorder or health problems.

My advice, start NOW!
The earlier you start the better the results.
We all tend to leave things until the crisis point.
Around 50, it seems, you look in the mirror one morning and somehow the person who is staring back at you isn’t the person you remember!
Lines and wrinkles have ‘somehow’ formed new grooves around your eyes, mouth or across your forehead, your eyelids are starting to droop and are heading for your lashes and you are starting to look like…your mother…or in my case, my father!
Don’t wait for the crisis.
On a positive note, even if you are 50 and start now, you can make a change! It’s never too late to care for your body and change your habits.
Be smart. Be motivated. Exercise your face!

Let’s really be honest, the most important time to do these routines is when you have the time.
We can all make excuses as to why we don’t have moments in our busy lives to go to the gym, eat well or meditate, but that’s all they are….excuses.
If you want to change your lifestyle or your body you need to be determined, dedicated and have a routine.
A routine is essential. It creates the habit.
The key to changing habits is planning. You need to plan the time in your day, your week and your agenda to make time for yourself and stick to it!
Here’s my weekly routine:
1. I make sure that I do my 10 Minute Daily Face Pilates Routine at least 5 times a week. This means that I have to get up a few minutes earlier but I’m happy to do it! The results are worth it!
I find the best time to do Face Pilates is in the morning because otherwise I get distracted at work or with life and it just don’t get around to it.
2. I wash my hair 3 times a week so I try to take a few extra minutes on the days that I’m going to wash my hair to include our Head Massage Routine.
3. My motto for staying healthy is live very well Monday to Friday. This means that I stick to my metabolic typing diet and I don’t eat processed foods. I also moderate the amount of alcohol I drink.
4. I exercise 3 days a week for at least one hour and walk as much as I can.
5. Whether it’s 10 minutes of meditation, conscious breathing for a minute or two, having a massage or going for a walk I make time everyday to allow my mind to rest and center my spirit.
Find your routine. Make your wellness habits happen.
Find a little vanity, it helps! You must love yourself.

We’re still working on that neck sag!
When we do our full 1 hour Face Pilates routine we always start at the neck and always with the Ear to Shoulder Stretch.
This stretch is a simple but effective way to stretch your neck muscles and warm them up for the complete routine.
It’s important to know that if you have any neck injuries such as compressed discs or herniations or previous neck issues due to illness or accidents you need to be aware of your range of motion with this exercise.
I myself have 4 compressed discs and two protruding in my neck and I am able to do the movement. I’m just careful and only take the stretch as far as I feel comfortable. It doesn’t have to be a big movement and it should not hurt. It is hard work though!
Please if you have any doubts speak to your doctor before you do the routine.
